London Marathon: Debutant Tirunesh Dibaba finishes third, Farah eighth

Tirunesh Dibaba London MarathonLondon, UKTirinesh Dibaba of Ethiopia finishes third on her marathon debut here at the London Marathon today.

Kenya’s Edna Kiplagat defeated compatriot Florence Kiplagat by three seconds in a sprint finish to win the race in 2hr 20min 21sec. Dibaba, Ethiopia’s great middle-distance runner, was third in 2hr 20min 35sec, having fallen back after stopping to pick up a dropped water bottle.

Men’s Race

The much anticipated men’s race was won by Wilson Kipsang of Kenya, with Mo Farah of the United Kingdom finishing a disappointing eighth. Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia came in third place behind Stanley Biwott of Kenya in second.
